The Galaxy Note started many people thinking about what a smartphone truly is. Some see it as too big to be a phone, others see it as too small to be a tablet and the rest of us are just confused. It offers many benefits such as a better browsing experience and the ability to enjoy games more completely when out and about. However, the price for this is portability which to be fair it really does not offer everyone. Lenovo is now rumoured to be releasing a rival to the Galaxy Note and we could be at the start of a new breed of mobile devices. A new breed of device that takes us all the way back to the early PDAs.
It is easy to see the appeal of these products because they do offer a user experience which is arguably better than standard sized smartphones can offer. They also offer a tablet-type experience which up until now has been impossible on any phone. We now have devices available in every size, in every style and to accomplish every possible task we desire when mobile. This makes it difficult to choose the perfect device for each individual, but choice is everything in the mobile world and so we should embrace this new breed of large smartphones. Or are they small tablets?
